Ugly No More

Remember the ugly floor ?

Well, it is G-O-N-E, gone.

Not bad, hmm ?

And it's just amazing what a little paint can do for tired old cabinets. I absolutely love the way it has turned out. And thank you ladies, for the advice... the cream paint for the cabinets was definitely the best choice. Still waiting for the new cabinet pulls, but in the meantime, I have plenty of projects to keep me busy... like that new table you see there.

I got this table base at my favorite local junk store for $20. It was exactly what I was looking for. So I scraped and sanded off the ugly yellow paint, and this is what I had.

Then my Dad and I made a top for it with the barnwood that I have collected.

Just look at how gorgeous the grain is on this wood.

My plan for this table, was to paint a chessboard on top, ( we love to play chess )
but now that I see how pretty the wood is, I don't know if I can bring myself to paint it...

Maybe I'm going a little overboard with the checkered paint.

I also acquired these 2 lovely antique chairs, while there...


Okay, they arent lovely yet. But I am about to paint them black and add new seats, and then they will be lovely,

you'll see...

Oh my aching back,

... knees, thighs, neck, you name it... it hurts.

The floor is done and I LOVE IT !!

Even though it took 4 days on my hands and knees.

Yes I see the black paint on the trim over there.

So this week I'm painting the cabinets cream...

and thanks for the input girlfriends !!

Alyssa and I have sanded the cabinet doors and painted on the primer.

Today we paint. First the cabinets, then the walls, then the trim,

then the doors, ..... oh boy.

I think these will be great on the cream cabinets,
a little country french...

U G L Y

A little something just for me..

what could it be?

I make beautiful things for my clients on a regular basis.

All the while I have been living with a floor like this ...

A painted concrete floor, missing most of the paint.

Here's a closer look at the ugliness.

No amount of sweeping and mopping,

can make that look clean.

So this week, I decided to do a little something for me.

Paint over the ugliness.

After 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of cream paint, a few hours

on my knees, drawing a border and a grid, and the first coat of black paint,

this is where I am.

and
I LOVE IT !!

Now it's apparent how ugly the cabinets are.

Here's where I'd like some help...

I'm a libra, you know I can't make up my mind.

3 choices...

1.) Strip and restain the cabinets in a walnut finish?
or
2.) Paint the cabinets black and slightly distress?

or

3.) Paint the cabinets cream and slightly distress?

The kitchen chairs will also be black,
the beadboard wainscotting will be the same bright cream color.

How about some input Girlfriends ?
