Bloomin Tuesday !

Down here in the South,
Bradford Pear trees are really popular.
That's why you won't find one in my yard!
I'd rather be original.
SO ...

This is the Star in my yard!
Pretty in Pink.
You like?

I   L-O-V-E her!

Beautiful blooms all the way to the very tips of every
single branch.  She is gorgeous!
Okay, I won't keep you in suspense any longer,
she is a "late double red peach tree".

In any catalogue, the description says she blooms on new
wood.  Well, I'm here to tell you....

NOT!!!

This little darlin is taller than my house, and I only trim the
smaller lower branches to keep the junk off'a her trunk.
Her top is untrimmed and wild!

Want one?
I have lots of these little babies sprouting in the flower bed
below.  So if you're in the Mid-Ga area, give me a shout.
I'll share if you will!!!!

Time to Smell the Roses

All work and no play ...
That doesn't work for me...
I have to take a little time to look around,
and see the everyday beauty that surrounds me.
Life's a little sweeter when you take the time
to stop and smell the Roses.
Shall we?

Thanks to MsGreen "thumb" Jean for hosting
I'm lovin' this physostegia with persian shield.

I planted this pink double knock out rose in a spot
where nothing else has survived. Hard. packed. clay.
Watered it for a few weeks, and left it to fend for itself.
And it is absolutely thriving.
Who said roses are hard to grow??

I adore this black elephant ear.
The greens and burgundy peeking through...
well that's just sexy.

Hypericum, or St. Johns Wort.

Autumn Joy.

Love it.

This deciduous shrub is fabulous.
I bought it at a local nursery, and no one could tell me the name. Can any of you identify this one? I'd love to know the proper name.
Lambs ears and ajuga.

Fabulous colors on this coleus.

Euphorbia.

Stop by Ms Jean's to continue this little tour...
And Have a Beautiful Day,
where ever you are!!!

Bloomin Tuesday

With so little to show...
Blooms are scarce in my garden right now.
But we do have phlox.

An ocassional strawberry is a nice surprise.

This is the weed that is eating my house.
uggg!

I have really been neglecting my roses. It is so hot that I just dont want to go outside and drag hoses around. I can't remember the last time I watered them. But still, they bloom.

Scold me now.
I don't know how this coleus manages to keep looking so lush.

Gerbers are always a favorite for me.
Minus the crabgrass.

These daylilies are just tireless.

Much needed color in my crunchy landscape.

Setcreasea.

Bloomin Tuesday

Yes, I'm showin' off my sexy bloomers again !

I've been waiting patiently for my stargazers to open,
and they made their grand entrance today!

This one was a surprise. I just love surprises like these.
It came up with my other stargazers.

This next asiatic, never quite looks like it's fully open.
It has so many petals, but it never opens more than what you see here. I still love it. These are about 3 years old, and this year they are over 4 feet tall!

For those of you experiencing the same kind of heat, I highly recommend asiatics. They are just so gorgeous, so fragrant, and totally unfased by the heat.

Now for the sad reality of gardening down south...
remember my gorgeous blue hydrangea?

Well this is what it looks like today.

And this hydrangea is almost completely in shade.
It sees very little sun.
I'm tellin' you... it is H. O. T. - hot in Georgia.
The heat index has been up to 104 degrees for the last week. My grass looks like it's been crispy fried. I'm really just trying to save my plants now.

My daylilys are still hanging tough.
They can really take the heat.

And thank you to Mrs. Rhonda for telling me the proper name of this last one... Kwanso.

Thanks as always to Mrs.Jean for hosting Bloomin Tuesdays!
I truly hope it's cooler where you are today!

Bloomin' Tuesday!

It's my favorite day of the week again!
Thanks to Mrs. Jean for hosting Bloomin' Tuesdays. Pop on over to see more gardening goodness.

So this is what I have blooming here in Georgia.
Gladiolas.

More gladiolas.

Still more...

(not the best photo... sorry)

This part of my garden is 4 years old, and it's filling in so nicely. You can see the yellow and purple glads in the background. This year, they are 6 feet tall!

This asiatic is called Muscadet.

Daylily

Brown Eyed Susan.

My single, lonely Hollyhock.
Gotta make sure to have more of these next year.

No garden should be without Gardenia.

I'm off to mow the grass, in triple digit weather.
Happy Tuesday, Y'all!

Get My Dirt On

Thank you to Mrs.GreenThumbJean for

My pink asiatics are still blooming.

I can finally show you my Hypericum blooms.
(St. Johns Wort)

This one was a surprise. It was packaged as a pink calla.

First it was white.

A few days later it began to take on a baby pink hue.

Old fashioned black eyed Susans.
Nothing seems to brighten up my flower beds
better than bright yellow flowers.

Like this Calla.

Mona Lisa asiatic was my Mother's Day gift last year.
She is big and bold.

Pretty Pink Glads.

Red Wing Glads.

Now you can show us yours.
